Vane Brothers is a fourth generation, 100 year old marine services company, located at Baltimore's Canton waterfront. Services provided from this Port location include:

• Launch services for merchant vessels
• Coast Guard certified marine safety services
• On-demand service for marine lubricants
• Bunker transportation

This project converted a "brown field" site into a tidewater campus of buildings composed of corporate headquarters, fuel storage warehouse facility, and maintenance/repair operations.

Kibart provided MEP services for all of the new buildings (totaling 75,000 SF) to provide a safe and comfortable working place for all of their varied working environments. The complex fully accommodates the company's administrative, maintenance, and storage warehousing operations, as well as the safe and secure 24,000 SF high hazardous liquid warehouse fuel storage facility, lubricant rapid heating facility, fully air conditioned Coast Guard certified raft repair facility and their maintenance operations. The project included the following:

• High efficient HVAC and air distribution design employing water source heat pumps, extra high efficient glazing, and wall envelopes
• Design for unlimited storage of type 3B combustible fuel oil, actually storing 475,000 gallons of oil lubricants
• Foam agent based fire protection system in fuel warehouse storage facility
• Linear beam detector smoke detection system in fuel warehouse storage facility
• Custom HVAC design to rapidly heat 60,000 gallons of oil lubricants from 30°F to 80°F in less than a 24 hour period
• Safety and combustion controls to prevent accidental explosion in event of fuel leaks
• Emergency generator design
• Control and containment of accidental fuel spills
