story, 29,800 SF masonry structure utilized for police functions and city hall
officials. The police functions include prisoner holding cells, decontamination
area, communications room, administrative areas, locker rooms, property and evidence
storage and kitchen area. The City Hall portion of the building includes administrative
areas, conference rooms, server room, kitchen area and a council chambers area.
Site included sanitary pump station and parking area. Tasks included design
of heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems, plumbing, fire safety, lighting,
power distribution including emergency generator, communications, security and
intercom, CCTV and integrated card access systems. HVAC design included
complete air conditioning of the building using water source heat pump units and
a central condenser water loop. Systems included central gas fired boilers, electric
chillers, cooling towers, heat exchangers, pumps, etc. The multiple heat pump
units allow various portions of this multipurpose facility to efficiently heat
and cool certain areas while systems are de-energized in unoccupied areas. Inmate
holding areas received special security type air devices, sprinkler heads, light
fixtures, video cameras, etc. Electrical systems included power and distribution
with generator backup to all critical police area functions. Police communications
room also contained a UPS system for critical systems. The police area included
card access/control to restrict access, CCTV surveillance systems of exterior
lots, entrance and prisoner holding cells. Separate audio/video systems were installed
in police interview rooms and City Council Chambers. The municipal office
was designed with a separate security intrusion detection system and CCTV surveillance
for the town office. The City Council chamber design included lighting, video
and sound systems for large crowds and cable TV broadcasting. Complete voice and
data cabling systems were also designed. |
