This facility, as the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene's primary data facility, contains over $6,000,000 in servers and related computer equipment. Serving all twenty-three Maryland Counties and Baltimore City, the facility processes Medicaid claims and disperses payments of over $160,000,000 per week.

As prime consultant for this project, Kibart provided mechanical/electrical/architectural/ structural design and construction administration services for the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene's main computer facility. This 2,000 SF facility included an 18" raised access floor to contain power and telecommunications cabling, glycol piping, and air distribution.

Design Features:

  • HVAC system including redundant floor mounted glycol computer room units, roof mounted dry coolers and full humidity control.
  • Full cross zoned smoke detection system (above and below floor) and FM200 extinguishing system.
  • Central UPS systems within the computer room (125 kva).
  • Diesel generator backup of UPS, cooling systems, and fire protection equipment.
  • Underfloor cable management via cable trays.
  • Signal reference ground grid within computer rooms.
  • New ceiling and wall finished for containment of FM200 gas.
  • 18" raised access floor with ramps and stairs.
